Prerequisites

Before we begin, make sure you have the following installed:

  • Quixel Bridge
  • Unreal Engine 5

Steps to Export Assets from Quixel Bridge to Unreal Engine 5

Step 1: Open Quixel Bridge and Navigate to Your Asset

Open Quixel Bridge on your computer, and navigate to the asset you want to export. This could be a 3D model, texture, material, or any other type of asset that you have created or imported into Quixel Bridge.

Step 2: Select the Asset for Export

Once you have located the asset you want to export, select it by clicking on its thumbnail in the left-hand panel. This will bring up a preview of the asset in the main window.

Step 3: Click the “Export” Button

In the top menu bar, click on the "Export" button. This will open a dialog box with various export settings.

    Step 4: Configure Export Settings

In the export settings dialog box, you can customize how your asset is exported to Unreal Engine 5. Here are some of the key settings to pay attention to:

  • File Format: Choose the file format for your exported asset. For 3D models, choose "FBX" or "OBJ". For textures, choose "PNG", "TGA", or "JPG". For materials, choose "MatNode".
  • Resolution/Size: Set the resolution or size of your exported asset to match the requirements of Unreal Engine 5. For example, if you are exporting a texture, you may want to set the resolution to be a power of two (e.g., 2048×2048) for optimal performance in-game.
  • Compression: Enable compression to reduce the size of your exported asset, which can help improve load times and reduce memory usage in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Quality Settings: Adjust the quality settings for your exported asset to balance file size and visual fidelity. For example, you may want to use a lower quality setting for a texture that will be used at a distance, but a higher quality setting for a texture that will be used up close.

    Step 5: Click “Export”

Once you have configured your export settings, click the "Export" button to generate the asset file. Quixel Bridge will save the file in the location specified in the "Save As" field.

Step 6: Import the Exported Asset into Unreal Engine 5

To import the exported asset into Unreal Engine 5, follow these steps:

    1. Open Unreal Engine 5 and create a new project or open an existing one.
    2. In the Content Browser, right-click and select "Import Package" from the context menu.
    3. Navigate to the location where you saved the exported asset file, select it, and click "Open".
    4. The asset will now be imported into Unreal Engine 5, and you can use it in your project as needed.
